Wanderlust

Thursday, November 23, 2017
It's that moment when your wanderlust started kicking in but you are stuck with your daily routines, a.k.a uni and work. Isn't it sad that we can't seem to travel either because the time is not right or you don't seem to have the money to travel right now? How I wish one day I could go on a trip whenever and wherever I want to without worrying about all that nonsense. While I am supposed to finish my assignment, here I am browsing through places that I wish I could be right now.

These are all the islands in Indonesia that I've been wanting to visit but am not lucky enough to go yet. Enjoy the list!

1. Tiger Island, Thousand Islands

This little gem is located near the capital city Jakarta. Can you believe that this beautiful island is located near a busy buzz city? This place is the perfect weekend getaway for those people who just couldn't take the city craziness anymore. You just need a two-hour speedboat ride and you're in a different place. This island was originally owned by a family in the mid-1970s but then a start-up travel company took over full-time stewardship decided to transform this island into a resort.
There are a few activities to do here on this small island, such as snorkeling, canoeing, trekking, set up a bonfire, etc. It is just a perfect getaway spot for families to enjoy the weekend or even a romantic getaway for those lovey-dovey couples out there.

2. Labuan Bajo

Have you ever heard of Komodos? The lizard-like-dinosaur? Yep, they are originated from Indonesia. Since the Island is full of Komodo dragon, they named the island Komodo Island, which is a part of the East Nusa Tenggara province here in Indonesia. Over this past year, this Island has been the 'it' spot to travel, and my Instagram feed is full of this Island's pictures, which makes my wanderlust kicks even stronger. It's not so hard to get here nowadays, and it is not as expensive as before either, maybe because people have been traveling here so often that it is considered a commonplace to travel to now. So you basically need to book a flight to Bali and then hop on a ferry to Flores (Labuan Bajo)  for about 32 to 40 hours. There are small Islands around Labuan Bajo, once you've arrived in Labuan Bajo, you could travel by boats to Rinca Island and Komodo Island.

3. Raja Ampat

I discovered this Island from watching a travel vlog by an Indonesian youtuber, and man do I want to jump on a plane asap! This place is breath-taking. I'm pretty sure the island is even better when you see it in person, but there's a catch though. It's kinda expensive to go there, and it's hard to find a place to stay cause this place is not widely known yet so yeah, it makes the transportation and hotel much more expensive. Oh and, it is a great place to dive!

These are all the Islands that I've been dying to visit! Right now, all I need to do is save as much money as I could to afford these trips. So what are your go-to places when your wanderlust starts kicking in? Would love to read your comments down there :D
