Throwback: Taichung Trip

This post is so outdated but better late than never right?

This trip started out quite randomly but ended fun and memorable.
In early November, a friend suggested that we go on a road trip to Taichung in December, the city where bubble milk tea was first invented. I thought that I really need a time off from the busy Taipei and go relax in someplace new so I said yes to this idea without hesitation.

December came and we managed to rent a car that fit the five of us just alright and started our 2 hours long journey at 9 a.m on a rainy Saturday morning. Among the five of us, only two who have driving licenses, so they took turns driving while the three of us sat in the back seat enjoying our ride. Our first day started out quite rough for me and a friend called Jeff. Jeff's iPhone kept restarting on its own and his motorcycle broke down on the way to the car rental office. On the other hand, I only brought my film camera with me and managed to lose the camera's advance lever. In the end, I had to rely on my old iPhone 5's camera.

The first day, 2nd December.
We make our first stop at a highway resting place and brought food to feed our empty stomach. We thought we would just stop by quickly to go to the toilet and bought a few snacks but turns out we're wrong. We stayed in that resting station for quite a while because apparently, some of us were so hungry that we ended up buying so much food.

The three pictures above were taken with my Yashica Electro 35 GX before I lost its advance lever.

After making a pit stop at the resting station, we then moved on to our hostel to check in and put our luggage in our room. The hostel is nice but the only downside to it is that it's quite far from the city center, so we had to stock up our snacks in case we got hungry at night, which happens to me almost every night. Oh, and the signal kinda sucks, but then again it's a nice way to unplugged from all those social media and actually enjoy our trip. After settling down our belongings, we then hopped in our car again and went to a place called 新社古堡花園,which is translated to Summit Resort. It has a Europe vibe to it that is so beautiful, but unfortunately, the weather did not seem to be cooperating with us and decided to be gloomy instead. Despite the gloomy weather, we actually had fun taking pictures here for about an hour.

Our last day, 3rd December.
We spent our last day strolling around the city. We make our first stop at an art museum, where people stop by just to take photos of the umbrella walls and umbrella tree.

Then we went to a park where they decorated into some kind of a miniature paper town. Everything is made from paper and the park is full of paper Big Ben, paper Pisa Tower, paper slide, etc. We were hungry when we made our stop in this paper town and decided to try out the restaurant despite the food being unnecessarily expensive. The restaurant is unique though, everything is made of paper too; chairs, tables, plates, and other eating utensils. After filling up our stomach, we went to find an ice cream store nearby and on our way there, we stumble upon a very nice view that we then decided to make a quick stop on the road and take a few photos.

And.... this is where the fun weekend getaway ends. Till next adventure folks!x
